Done under the direction of mentor and UWM Peck School of the Arts faculty Katie Martin-Meurer, this book is a testament to the vitality of community in hard times. A paired back design with full-bleed images puts the people first. Shoelaces weave through the pages, becoming metaphors for the paths of our lives. At the middle of the book, the heart of this project, the laces intertwine. The pagination is paced like the experience of a walk; building a rhythm and breaking it with surprises and discoveries along the way.
